Situated on the western shores of lake St Lucia and only 5 minutes drive from the lodge is False Bay Park. This 4000 ha game reserve was proclaimed in 1944 to conserve its diversity of plant life and tremendous variety of insects and birds. Some ancient creatures have been calling it home for around 140 million years.

You will find fossils, pectin clams and fossilised worms when exploring the park or visiting the display room. The fossil-rich cliffs, dry forests and grasslands, and some of the last remaining patches of sand forest in KwaZulu-Natal provide perfect scenery for hiking. This rare sub tropical forest with its giant tress such as the Strangler Fig and the Lebombo Wattle grows on ancient coastline.

Enjoy the spectacular views of Hell's Gate peninsula while having a picnic lunch next to the lake.

A tour of this live-in museum features cultural rituals of the Zulu people, weaving, crafting and Zulu dancing. The village is situated 10 minutes drive from the lodge. 1,5 hour scheduled tours. R105.00 per person.

Cape Vidal beach is another excellent snorkelling spot along the coast and is renowned for its sport fishing.

The reef provides relatively protected swimming and golden beaches; coastal forests and clear blue ocean vistas form idyllic settings for hiking.

Guided wilderness trails include visits to Bat Caves, lake Bhangazi, Mount Tabor and exploring the rock pools at Mission Rocks during low tide.

Visit informal community curio and craft market, where crafts reflect the diversity of local talent, or visit Ilala Weavers. This private company are international recognised due to the fact that they have uplifted rural women by creating demand for traditional hand-woven Zulu baskets. The shop is situated next to the lodge.
