Recommended Safari - 3 Day Program

The Wetland and Wildlife Splendours invite a two or three night stay. This is one of the few destinations where a visitor can see the Big 5 at a game reserve and within a short half hour drive be able to watch dolphins and whales.

Herewith a recommended program to experience this fascinating destination in a relatively short space of time:

Day One:

Allow travel time in hours

Afternoon game drive to Hluhluwe/Umfolozi game reserve departing after 14:00.

Day two:

Boat cruise on lake St Lucia.
Visit a snake and crocodile park .
Visit a cheetah and serval cat-breeding project during feeding time in the late afternoon

Day Three:

Early morning game drive in game reserve
Visit a traditional Zulu village and local craft markets.

Day Four:

Early morning hike.
Depart after a late breakfast

Safaris

Safaris are conducted in elevated 4x4 vehicles. The roofed vehicles are open on the side and abide to strict safety regulations.

Safaris are led by experienced and qualified rangers that have a wide knowledge of the rich bird and wildlife of the region as well as indigenous trees and plants. Rain jackets are available for any untimely rain showers.

Standard Daily Safaris

Departing from the lodge to the Hluhluwe / Umfolozi game reserve:

Half day - 3 hours - R300 per person
Early morning or late afternoon
Full day - 9 hours - R 495 per person
Departing after breakfast.

Night Drives

Night game drives on private game property are available. During these drives an entirely different world unfolds as the nocturnal bird and animal species emerge from their cover. Guests eager to view large mammals are recommended to rather join a late afternoon game drive during sunset.
